14 Jun Donor Mary Lou Owen Makes Transforming Gift Towards Medical Imaging for Sechelt Hospital
Our donors often see the future of local health care very clearly, and they act on those insights.
Case in point, local retired school teacher, Mary Lou Owen who has stepped forward once again, to help transform and expand Medical Imaging at Sechelt Hospital. Sechelt Hospital Foundation and Vancouver Coastal Health welcome the investment in future diagnostic services to help serve patients on the Sunshine Coast.
With a $500,000 donation to support the future of Medical Imaging, Mary Lou said “I want to ensure my money is put to good use during my lifetime and hope to support the hospital that has done so much to take care of our community.”
“This gift allows Sechelt Hospital and our Medical Imaging Department to plan for the future. Vancouver Coastal Health continuously evaluates and innovates to address health care service needs for the Sunshine Coast, and such a contribution helps the process,” said Marie Duperreault, Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) Director for the Sunshine Coast. “We are so grateful to Mary Lou Owen and the Sechelt Hospital Foundation for this generous donation.”
Kerry Macey, Lower Mainland Medical Imaging Director for VCH, noted “this capital investment will support the business case for service expansion and new equipment feasibility. Truly, such support from the community is a great morale boost for my team who work so hard to deliver excellent patient care.”
