This painting was inspired by a photo taken by my friend Miro Mundik, a keen wildlife photographer. He may have entered it into the Fat Bear Week competition in the fall. Bears need to eat about 20 salmon a day to prepare for their long winter nap, and this black bear was clearly quite successful.
