People living on the Sunshine Coast deserve a great, full-service community hospital. In times of medical need, we want to ensure the latest technical and diagnostic services are available close to home. The more we can do to support the provision of care on the Coast, the better off we all are.

We are the fundraising arm of the Sechelt Hospital and our mandate is to purchase necessary equipment, furnishings and support capital projects, by prudently managing the donations you make to Sechelt Hospital Foundation. We work closely with our doctors, nurses and health care teams as well as hospital leadership to ensure donations are directed to the areas of greatest need. By working together with our community partners and generous donors we ultimately enhance patient care where and when we need it.

We continue to focus on three core areas: Healthy Bodies, Healthy Spaces, Healthy Minds. Please refer to our 3-year Action Plan for more details. We have some major capital projects coming our way. The addition of the Silverstone Lodge will allow for the opportunity to revitalize Totem Lodge and Shorncliffe facilities. Studies are now underway as to how these can best be used to serve the residents of the Sunshine Coast. Our existing Mental Health and Substance Use treatment facilities are in dire need of an overhaul and expansion. Within the hospital, our Operating Rooms need a substantial upgrade and our Imaging Department needs reconfiguring to accommodate a new X-ray suite. In addition, we have commenced preliminary work to establish a wellness garden as a sanctuary for patients, visitors and staff.

These will not happen without the continued generosity of the Sunshine Coast community. Our goal is to ensure residents of the Sunshine Coast receive quality health care whether as a patient in the Sechelt Hospital, in the community or at home.

We have some significant challenges ahead of us but we have a great team in place. Please feel free to visit our office at the hospital to get further information. While you are there, take the opportunity to walk the halls and enjoy the Foundation’s new art collection, generously contributed by local artists and grateful donors.

Gibsons Health Unit gets audiology booth. Special thanks to Chad Joe and all supporters of  Westcoast Mining’s “Comedy on the Coast”  for providing funds for the Sunshine Coast’s first  Audiology Booth for early childhood screening.
