On Behalf of the Board of Directors, Welcome to Sechelt Hospital Foundation!
People on the Sunshine Coast are fortunate to have a great, full-service community hospital. We want to ensure that the latest technical and diagnostic services are available in times of medical needs close to home. We are all better off when we support the provision of health care on the Coast.
The Sechelt Hospital Foundation is the fundraising arm of the Sechelt Hospital. Our mandate is to purchase necessary equipment, furnishings, and support capital projects. We are the stewards and provide prudent management of your donations to the Foundation. We work closely with our doctors, nurses, health care teams as well as Vancouver Coastal Health leadership to ensure donations are directed to the areas of greatest need. To meet our mandate, we focus on three core areas:
HEALTHY BODIES: where we purchase diagnostic and treatment equipment including recent equipment for both the Surgical Services and Medical Imaging department.
HEALTHY SPACES: where we breathe new life into old buildings at Sechelt Hospital and in our community health care facilities;
HEALTHY MINDS: where we support professional development of health care staff and keep the community informed about preventive and proactive health including our MedTalks series.
We have significant challenges ahead of us and are planning to support future major projects at the Hospital. These include a new Mental Health and Substance Use building and a major upgrade to the surgical suites. Also, there will be a repurposing of Totem Lodge and the Shorncliffe facility. The Foundation has a great team in place to meet these challenges.
These initiatives will not happen without the continued generosity of the Sunshine Coast community. Our goal is to ensure residents of the Sunshine Coast receive quality health care whether as a patient in the Sechelt Hospital, in the community or at home.
We look forward to your continued support as a donor, volunteer or community partner. Each donation makes a difference to the quality of health care we all receive here on the Sunshine Coast. On behalf of our board of directors, hospital staff, physicians — and those we are privileged to serve — thank you for supporting the Sechelt Hospital Foundation. Thanks to you, the best medicine is local.
