The Foundation works on an ongoing basis with Vancouver Coastal Health and Sechelt Hospital medical staff and administrators to identify equipment and special project needs not covered by the annual provincial or regional health budgets.
The most recent priority was to assist with the purchase of new clinical and non-clinical equipment and furniture for the new hospital expansion through the ‘Gettin’ Equipt’ campaign, a joint initiative of the Sechelt Hospital Foundation and the Sunshine Coast Healthcare Auxiliary.
In May 2012, the $2 million campaign goal was met — a year ahead of schedule! — and the new hospital tower opened in spring 2013.
Additional items purchased include:
- ICU monitoring system – $150,000
- Incubator, baby – $50,000
- Fetal monitor – $30,000
- Birthing bed – $20,000
- 3 infant warmers – $105,000 ($35,000 each)
- Bladder scanner – $20,000
Now that ‘Gettin’ Equipt’ is complete, the Foundation returns to fundraising for annual equipment and special project needs identified in collaboration with VCH and hospital staff.
Please check back here often to review newly identified hospital needs.
