Vancouver Coastal Health is responsible for the delivery of health care at Sechelt Hospital and is funded through the British Columbia Ministry of Health.

As a not-for-profit, registered charitable organization, Sechelt Hospital Foundation works hand in hand with Vancouver Coastal Health, but is a separate organization governed by a voluntary Board of Directors comprised of up to 12 elected members of the community as well as three ex-officio members from the Hospital’s Medical Staff, Acute Care Services and the Sechelt Hospital / Healthcare Auxiliary.

Sechelt Hospital Foundation was established in 1995, taking the place of Sechelt Hospital Society. The Foundation prudently manages donations made to subsidize physical and equipment capital costs, as well as special projects that are related to the sustainability and enhancement of quality health services offered through Sechelt Hospital.

The Sunshine Coast Regional Hospital District is responsible for providing the local share (typically 40%) of capital funding for the Sunshine Coast’s hospital facilities and hospital equipment. This body is not involved in identifying funding needs.
