Comedy on the Coast
Chad Joe, President of Westcoast Mining Co., approached the Foundation about the need for pediatric support on the Coast. When his young son fell ill, his family experienced what it was like to see a child flown to Vancouver for treatment. Chad wanted to do something to help families who might also have experienced this, and decided it was important to bring specialized equipment to Sechelt Hospital.
With the new expansion underway in 2010, Chad had an idea to raise funds locally and decided to bring comedians to the Sunshine Coast. It was a fabulous idea! By partnering with the Foundation, ticket prices were somewhat offset by the issuing of tax receipts for a portion of the ticket, which the Foundation was pleased to do. This donation of $35,000 was the first large donation designated to purchasing an infant resuscitation unit for the new expansion.
Since then Chad and Comedy on the Coast have raised over $100,000 for pediatric and family care at Sechelt Hospital.
Many thanks to Chad and his team for all they’ve done to support the health of our community!
